That end of the year feeling seems to come around sooner and sooner every year.

DON’T YOU agree?

And now that it’s here….

For those who may be taking a short left anywhere in South Africa …to eThekwini for a three-day weekend beach getaway or exploring three different provinces in three weeks – no matter the length of the trip – you’ll need to pack a bag, and you’ll want to pack it right.

The thing about packing is that it takes time. There’s a lot to consider, obvs. It’s easy to overpack or underpack, especially if you’ve waited until the last minute.

Here are a few suggestions to help make packing easy.

Pack by Outfit

Try to  pack by outfit — not individual items — this keeps it realistic and you avoid the desire to pack the entire wardrobe and all your shoes!

Roll, Don’t Fold

Become a roll-don’t-fold devotee. Save space.

Always Be Ready to Go

Collect travel-sized toiletries when you have the chance. Get an extra toothpaste, ask your hair stylist for shampoo and conditioner samples, and keep all of them organized in a ready-to-grab toiletry bag. Learn which items of clothing work best for travel: They shouldn’t wrinkle easily, they should work for day or evening, and they shouldn’t take up a lot of space in your bag.

If you travel a lot: keep the same essentials in your suitcase at all times.

Keep a set of things that you never unpack, like a set of makeup brushes, a set of cosmetics, essential skincare products …the benefits of taking good care of your skin are immeasurable.

On the first and last day of your trip, repeat outfits.

Sounds weird, but it works. Whatever you wear on the plane getting there, wear on the plane coming back.
