Its #Day12 of being at home during the 21 day South African Lockdown due to #COVID-19…and tbh, from a drinks perspective, my taste buds are ready to move on beyond the caffeine, tea and water. They are ready to explore more!
Given that the lockdown also includes an alcohol ban…
Here are three simple, easy non-alcoholic cocktails to try with ingredients you may well have in the pantry.
Tangerine and Rosemary Cocktail
Ingredients:
1/4 cup fresh squeezed tangerine juice
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon rosemary simple syrup (recipe below)
2 tablespoons lime cordial (or to your tasting)
club soda
ice
Rosemary Simple Syrup
Ingredients:
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 sprigs of rosemary
How to mix it : Combine water, sugar and rosemary in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let sit for about 10 minutes. Strain out rosemary and let cool completely. Store syrup in a lidded jar or bottle in the refrigerator.
Fill glass with ice. Add in juices, simple syrup, and lime cordial. Top off with club soda. Garnish with tangerine slice and sprig of rosemary. Stir before drinking.
Taste and adjust to your liking . It’s a good idea to give the herbs and juices some time to ‘mingle’ before drinking.
Note: recipe is for a single glass, can quadruple all ingredients for at least 4 servings
