Johannesburg, July 7, 2020.

Yesterday, Paris began its first ever digital fashion showcases starting with Couture week, to be followed immediately with menswear.

This year because of the unprecedented global state of the world, driven primarily by the Covid-19 pandemic health crisis, the Federation de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) is presenting purely online shows ; with 3 days of Couture and 5 days of menswear.

Challenged and shaken by the changes the world of fashion must adapt to the new era. After all, the show must go on. So here in Paris, 2 digital platforms have been created -one for Haute Couture and one for Menswear.

For Haute Couture, here is some key take outs and what to expect , along with a curated list of what to look out for which will be updated daily.

Many member Brands have responded to the call from the FHCM , and the calendar includes presentations, online Haute Couture videos , runway shows, designer profiles, interviews etc. all of which can be viewed on this site.

The platforms have gone beyond just broadcasting the brand videos, as a result of being pushed towards a more experimental approach. Meaning more exploration of the potential digital technology offers .

The general public on a global scale has access to the platforms here

Below, we invite you to watch the launch of this exceptional fashion week by the legendary Naomi Campbell, before discovering the calendar of fashion shows.

And then really interesting discussion on Fashion matters: diversity talk and the Christian Dior video presentation is worth a watch.

Tonight, its all about the only African designer on the couture calendar Imane Ayissi .

Updates tomorrow .
