Sunglass Hut’s Journey With Fashion Week


From a small kiosk in Miami, Sunglass Hut has expanded to more than 20 countries.

For over forty years, Sunglass Hut has been the definitive destination for the latest trends in premium eyewear, with over 3,000 retail spaces worldwide. With substantial experience with the latest trends, and working with top designers to create exclusive products, Sunglass Hut has earned its place in the fashion industry. In March 2015, Sunglass Hut was announced as the principle sponsor for London Fashion Week. This marked an official association with fashion weeks around the world. In keeping with this global alignment, Sunglass Hut South Africa partnered with SA Fashion Week in 2015 as sponsor of the SA New Talent Search.

Conceived by industry veteran Lucilla Booysen, the New Talent Search is the perfect launchpad for SA designers. The search gives designers the opportunity to showcase their collections at SA Fashion Week and to learn the tools necessary to turn their artisanal skills into a successful business. Some of South Africa’s most talented designers have been revealed through the New Talent search – such as David Tlale, Cleo Droomer and Tiaan Nagel.

Dean Charles Hauptfleisch, who’s label WITH was announced the winner of the New Talent search in 2015, was first inspired by the fashion culture of Copenhagen. The New Talent search was the perfect platform to launch his label. WITH focuses on juxtaposition and layers of long length tops with ¾ pants and short jackets.
