Missshape, a new womenswear label, was founded by mother and son duo Fikile and Jamal Nxedlana, who work together as producer and creative director respectively. Missshape is pronounced miss-shape. The name, like the clothing, relates to women who have curvaceous bodies. As a curvaceous woman, Fikile Nxedlana found that clothing in stores, especially fitted pieces, did not cater for her curves. Over the years Jamal has worked with women of this body-type and has created a metric system that takes into consideration this body shape. Using his mother’s expertise in cutting for curvy shapes, Jamal designs clothing for a sophisticated woman.
