Spree’s decision to launch Spree Boutique is an exciting highlight in their on-going campaign to support and shine the spotlight on local designers by providing an innovative platform for them to retail online. Expect one-of-a-kind designs and top quality garments by South Africa’s top designers.
“The South African fashion landscape is one that is as diverse as it is ever evolving; an industry that celebrates beauty, creativity and most of all; the talent that is constantly appearing from all corners of our country. It is with this talent in mind that the Spree Fashion and Buying teams focused on fashion events, appearances, exhibitions and news to select designers from all over South Africa that needed to be showcased and celebrated,” says Chris Viljoen (Spree Fashion Director).

Her work is always superbly crafted, interesting and comfortable, appealing to a wide spectrum of women who love individuality, identity, craftsmanship and diversity in their wardrobe. In September 2013 Marianne showed a “trash to treasure” collection a La Ferme du Buisson in Paris and most recently one of her garments was nominated for Design Indaba’s 2014 Most Beautiful Object in SA.

M. Fassler, the new Marianne Fassler diffusion label, is bold, optimistic and playful, channelling the energy and essence of a vibrant and ever evolving South Africa. At its core, it embodies the unexpected juxtapositions, impeccable finish and fit that we have come to expect from one of South Africa’s most dynamic design houses. The line showcases a kaleidoscope of fruity summer colours and the signature Fassler leopard print, in relaxed feminine silhouettes.

“There were no major adjustments done when taking the collection from the catwalk into production for retail,” says Coetzee. “For Spree we specially selected six of the styles, and introduced colour, so every style is available in several colourways while retaining the striking contrast of black-and-white. The range includes elegant, longer skirts with frill detail, maxi dresses that flatter all figure shapes… Imagine the 50s with an edgy, hi-fashion twist. The result is a stylish, sophisticated capsule wardrobe that is easy to wear and flattering to all figure shapes.”

With my debut Spree Boutique collection it was important for me to offer South African women the very best of the Thula Sindi brand. So we took the decision to create two cotton brocade ‘Twist Dresses’ exclusively for Spree Boutique. The Twist Dress is the perennial and quintessential Thula Sindi dress which we update each season and feel best embodies the mantra of the Thula Sindi brand: ‘Simplicity Inspired Sophistication’.
All the pieces selected – whether it was the exuberant printed Sharon Becker dress or the understated graphic flocked shift – we believe offer the Spree Boutique customer timeless design, unparalleled sophistication and exceptional quality.
