FRAAS – The Scarf Company opened its first flagship store on 28 April in Mall of Africa, Johannesburg. FRAAS is the biggest manufacturer of scarves in the world with more than 135 years of company history behind the brand – now in its fifth generation, the company was established in 1880 in Wüstenselbitz, Germany. The 80 square metre FRAAS flagship store in Mall of Africa, South Africa’s biggest single-phase shopping mall development with 131,000 square metres of retail space, has set a landmark for the brand.
Made in Germany FRAAS is proud to manufacture many of its products in its own factories in Germany. 1.5 million pounds of yarn are used per annum in the Wüstenselbitz manufacturing plant in Germany alone. That’s three times as heavy as the statue of liberty in New York.
Andreas Schmidt, executive director and fifth generation FRAAS family says, “The African continent is a market with enormous potential, especially South Africa. “It’s a perfect platform, combining an array of cultures and modern life. When customers wrap a FRAAS scarf around their neck, they are wrapping themselves in a piece of fashionable textile trust.”
Below, they show us some of the many ways to wear a scarf this winter.
