A Roundup of SA Menswear Week

sa-menswear-week
We recently attended the AW 16 menswear shows held at Cape Town stadium. Fashion has always enthralled me but I find it fascinating to try and figure out what fashion is trying to tell us. The message from these shows was clear: embrace your individuality and relish in it! We saw a new expression of gender fluidity; a masculine man not afraid to embrace their feminine side! Earrings, make up, fish net tights, leggings and skirts were seen on the runways as well as wide legged pants, jumpsuits and handbags. The use of bold, strong colours was predominant and noticeably lacking was the traditional suit. A softer silhouette prevailed. Above all I loved that the designers are prepared to push boundaries and explore their creativity.
